Welcome to
MFSG – Global Seafarers' Welfare Foundation
A small gesture. A big difference.
Seafarers keep our world moving. They spend months away from home, working hard, often in tough conditions. But who’s there for them when life gets difficult?
That’s where we come in.
Whether it’s a natural disaster, financial stress, medical costs or education that’s just out of reach, we believe no seafarer or their family should face these challenges alone.
We offer support where it’s needed most: from emergency aid and scholarships to mental health care, welfare programmes and research. And we do this together with partners who care as much as we do.
Because behind every seafarer is a story. A family. A future.
And sometimes, one helping hand is all it takes to move forward.

Why we care
Our journey began in 2013, when Typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines.
This country is home to many of our seafarers. That disaster showed us the power of solidarity and how even a small act of help can change lives.
Since then, the needs of seafarers and their families have grown and changed. That’s why we created this foundation — to offer broader and more flexible support to the global seafaring community.
What we do
We support seafarers, future seafarers, and their families through:
- Direct Support
Practical, emotional, and financial help — from essential items and communication tools to medical care and mental health support. - Education and Training
Scholarships and funding that open doors — helping (future) seafarers and their families build a better life through access to learning and development. - Partnerships
We work with maritime companies, governments, and NGOs to improve life circumstances and long-term wellbeing for seafarers worldwide. - Research and Advocacy
We support studies that shine a light on the real-life challenges seafarers face — and push for stronger, more effective welfare solutions.
Our goals
We aim to:
- Support seafarers and their families affected by disasters, accidents, or personal crises.
- Offer practical, emotional, and financial assistance to (future) seafarers.
- Open doors to maritime education — especially for those who might not otherwise have access to it.
- Provide tools and programmes that improve safety, health, and long-term welfare.
- Raise awareness about the challenges seafarers face — within the maritime sector and beyond.
Our mission remains clear:
To support wellbeing and give (future) seafarers and their families a push in the right direction, towards a safer, healthier and more hopeful life.

We believe in helping today — and building better tomorrows.
